Born in Ohio, Donald Douglas has been an avid self-taught photographer since he got his hands on a camera as a child. He has traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, though much of his work is focused on the plentiful nature in and around the Atlanta area. Recent additions to his collection have come from the rich culture and magnificent countryside of his wife’s native Slovakia, with a particular interest in the many castle ruins from centuries long past. |
Donald studied at Stetson University, graduating with a dual-major in Computer Science and Music, and draws on philosophies from both fields in his work as a photographer. He currently resides in Lithia Springs, Georgia.
Artist Statement
As a nature photographer, I feel compelled to reveal in my photography unique perspectives that are often overlooked, whether it be the underside of an ordinary flower or the clearing mist over a lake as the sun is rising. Much of what God has placed all around us in nature is missed in our rush to get from home to work to school to daycare, and I strive to capture visually what I feel has been robbed from many of us in everyday living.
As I venture into the woods or fields in the early morning, I practice the motto “take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints”, hoping to leave this “World of Wonders” that surrounds us an ever-richer heritage for future generations.
